Founded in Vijayawada in 2001 by Nalanda Educational Institutions (est. 1988), affiliated to Krishna University and registered with the AP Skill Development Corporation.
Brief history
Nalanda Educational Institutions have taught in Andhra Pradesh since 1988; the degree college opened in Vijayawada in 2001.
Nalanda Educational Institutions were established in 1988 at Vijayawada, starting with Nalanda Junior Colleges, and have spread across the state to 52 locations; four lakh students have graduated from Nalanda institutions.
In 2001, Nalanda Degree College was founded in Vijayawada by four visionaries — Late Sri I. V. Kameswara Rao, Late Sri K. Basava Purnaiah, Late Sri A. V. Subba Rao and Sri K. Rambabu — with a dream towards advancement, dedication to accomplish, and a strong passion for preserving excellence in the academic sphere.
The college is located in the heart of the city and easily accessible. It is affiliated to Krishna University, registered with the AP Skill Development Corporation, and has completed 25 successful years of commitment to education par excellence.

Nalanda has been the torchbearer in initiating the change process in the field of education, and it gives us immense pride to have completed 25 successful years of our commitment to excellence. By pioneering path-breaking pedagogical methods, teaching techniques, training and infrastructure, and the excellent results our efforts yield, we keep adding dynamic thrust in imparting the right education.
The college’s infrastructure includes the latest computer laboratories, free internet, a library with an extensive collection, a seminar hall with state-of-the-art projection, classrooms with audio-visual gadgets, renovated science laboratories and laboratories for all science departments — with a placement cell, students’ clubs and a cafeteria. Courteous administrative staff are always available to guide students through procedural formalities.
We train our students in career-oriented courses apart from regular academics. Nalanda is the proud platform that fosters the student’s natural ability and guides them in their field of interest.
Quality policy
Nalanda Degree College is ISO certified. Quality is embedded in the vision and mission of the institution and implemented through the Internal Quality Assurance Cell, annual academic audits, feedback from every stakeholder and continuous improvement of academic, administrative and supporting functions.
Institutional distinctiveness
The one area distinctive to our priorities is providing quality education at the doorstep of rural and urban students, under the motto “Shaping the real professionals”. The day starts with an assembly that includes a Sanskrit sloka; value education, sports and social responsibility — blood-donation camps, visits to old-age homes, disaster relief — run alongside academics. Between 2019 and 2024, 1,610 students received job offers.
Best practices
NDC Radio, Vijayawada’s first degree-college campus radio, is run entirely by students. Every year, eco-friendly Vinayaka Chavithi and Diwali celebrations sell clay diyas and idols decorated with natural colours, and the funds raised are donated to an old-age home.
