A vibrant NCC wing and an active NSS unit help students develop personality and social consciousness. An award-winning cultural team, a sports team that represents Krishna University, student clubs and NDC Radio make the campus a place to grow, not just to study.

National Service Scheme (NSS)

Nalanda’s NSS unit is a platform for students to connect with society, take part in meaningful causes and grow as socially responsible citizens, with a focus on discipline, teamwork and compassion.

National Cadet Corps (NCC)

Nalanda hosts NCC sub-units for boys and girls, affiliated with 17(A) Battalion and 4(A) Girls Battalion NCC, Vijayawada. With the motto “Unity and Discipline”, cadets train through regular drills, camps and social initiatives.

Boys unit — 17(A) Battalion, Vijayawada

Sanctioned strength: 108 cadets
‘B’ certificate: 2 years of training, 75% attendance, at least 1 camp
‘C’ certificate: 3 years of training, 75% attendance, at least 2 camps

Girls unit — 4(A) Girls Battalion, Vijayawada

Sanctioned strength: 104 cadets
Same eligibility for ‘B’ and ‘C’ certificates

Cultural and Literary Club

The club promotes cultural awareness, critical thinking and language and communication skills — a platform for creativity, writing and an understanding of diverse arts and culture.

A separate dance studio, literature clubs, art exhibitions, creative-writing workshops, cultural festivals and exchange programmes foster a deeper understanding of global culture. The college won the all-round championship second and third places at Krishna Tarang 2022 and 2023.

NDC Radio

Vijayawada’s first degree-college campus radio, operated exclusively by students: music, podcasts, talk shows, guest interviews, campus news and alumni stories. Some hosts have gone on to careers as radio jockeys.

Sports

The sports team is the all-time iconic team representing Krishna University. The college has produced national-level players in cricket (men and women), kabaddi (Pro Kabaddi), boxing and athletics, and students were selected for the Vizzy Trophy twice. Gold medals have come in football, kabaddi, ball badminton, roller skating, boxing, taekwondo, handball and judo.

Brainstormers, Cognition and Conquest bring every department together each year, with the Success Meet on stage in between.
